DIGITAL PRINTING

Digital printing is the ‘buzz' word of the printing industry. At Thomson's Graphipress we are well equipped to handle your digital printing needs. Along with a high-speed black and white machine we also have the new Xerox 700 Digital Colour Press as part of our line up.

Digital printing is ideal for lower quantity and customised needs such as business cards and flyer printing, annual reports, brochure printing, posters - just about anything you want printed. Its limitations are it only prints in CMYK and on the stock range between 80 grams to 300 grams.

Your customized digital printing can include the new marketing concept using variable data. This is where each item that is printed is different in a small way. It may be that your flyer printing contains the individual name of the person you are sending it to. Rather than your brochure printing being a large quantity of everything you sell it can be several smaller quantity brochures targeting the client directly. This is proving to be a more effective way of direct mail rather than a generic letterbox drop. To make this form of direct mail work you do need an up to date database of your clients so the variable content can be included in the digital printing process.

Digital printing primarily uses an electrical charge to transfer toner or liquid ink to the paper or card it is printed on. It is similar to colour photocopying. It eliminates the need for printing plates by using computer files. These computer files can be digital files you have provided us or we can also use hard copy originals. If you do not have digital files or a finished original our design team would be happy to assist in making your marketing ideas become a reality

At Thomson's Graphipress we also offer the traditional offset, sheet-fed printing. Having both printing methods available at the same site allows us to discuss with you options to suit your volume and desired print outcome. Rather than only offering digital printing we can offer you an alternative if the digital printing process is not cost effective for your needs. For example: if your flyer printing is not variable and of a large quantity.
